Diving into new waters

 
Although he had a successful career as a coach for executives and cross-functional teams for large corporations, Andy Robbins knew that it was time to shift gears and align his brand with his real capabilities—and new clients he wanted to attract. It was time to build a brand that would intrigue those potential clients, convey his professionalism and credibility, and allow his business to grow into its potential. And he didn’t want to blend in with the rest of his competition. We had to find a way to bring some surprise and warmth into the brand to set it apart from a competitive space filled with jargon and stock photography.

In a serious (and seriously crowded!) competitive space, a surprising sense of humor can go a long way toward helping you stand out.

Discovering new horizons

 
Andy’s new company name, Oyster, is an intriguing introduction that we hope sparks some questions from potential clients. It’s also a metaphorical nod to the role he plays in helping his clients to grow; coaching is the catalyst that starts the process of growing a pearl. Conversation is at the heart of Andy’s practice and the brand in his new tagline, “Conversations worth having.” We brought a familiar tone to the brand voice as well, and extended the logo’s dialogue bubble inspiration to layered graphics. Brand photography focuses on an ocean theme, and on surprising imagined conversations between animals or inanimate objects that are a tidal distance from the competition’s conference rooms and suits. The result is a brand that is easy to apply consistently, well-differentiated from the field, and reflects Andy’s good humor, warmth and intelligence from the first impression to the last.
